About Us

First Federal Bank is the oldest locally owned financial institution in Harnett County. First Federal is a local institution dedicated to serving its communities.

A History of Growth

Originally chartered in 1958, First Federal opened for business in Dunn, North Carolina, on January 20, 1959, and has continued to grow. In the late 1970s and early 1980s the bank opened three branches: Angier, Erwin, and Benson. The bank branched into Fuquay-Varina in 1996 and into Clayton in 2000.

What's in a Name?

In 1981 the bank converted from a mutual company to a federal capital stock institution. In 1988 the bank changed its name from First Federal Savings and Loan Association to First Federal Savings Bank.

In April 2003, the bank became First Federal Bank, a change that represents the direction the bank began moving in the mid-1980s. The bank has transitioned from a traditional thrift, providing mortgage loans and time deposits, to a full-service community bank.
